Storm
The sun’s light was fading fast behind the trees
Ominous clouds were quickly covering the sky
Winds whipped warm air around, a summer tease
This spring storm was anything but shy

I watched the chaos from my creaky attic room
The unpredictable weather was a true match
To the situation by which my life was consumed
The one I loved was inevitably detached

Leaves swirled in the wind like thoughts swirled in my mind
Young love was gone as quickly as it had come
My brain told my heart that with loss new opportunities shined
But to the sad and troubling thoughts I still succumbed

Tomorrow would be a new day, one without storms
But today because of the change, the earth and I would mourn
